Freeway Truck Accident

George L was employed as a chief executive officer (CEO) of a residential home care business and incurred an industrial injury to his left leg, right ankle, lower extremities and ribs, while performing the usual and customary duties of his position. Mr. L was traveling in a company vehicle, when it was struck by an oncoming vehicle driving on the wrong side of the freway into his lane. His injuries resulted in multiple corrective surgical procedures, numerous sessions of physical therapy and prescription treatment, as well as qualified him for the possibility of future surgeries should complications arise from the industrial injury. During the progression of his claim, Mr. L developed a secondary injury to his chest, in the form of a pneumothorax and pulmonary embolism, which could be directly attributed to complications of his original industrial injury, and required extensive evaluation and treatment.

Mr. L settled his claim for $175000 via Stipulation with Request for Award on September 15, 2007 with the San Diego Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Implementation of the Stipulation for Request for Award allows Mr. L to continue to pursue medical treatment for his industrial injuries.
