Suzanne F worked as teacher for the San Diego Unified School District, and while performing the usual and customary duties of her position, incurred an industrial injury to her lumbar spine (back). While transferring furniture and school supplies from one classroom to another, she strained her lower back, and caused significant damage to numerous disks in her spine. The injury to Ms. F’s back resulted in numerous sessions of physical therapy and acupuncture, as well as qualified her as a candidate for corrective back surgery. During the progression of her claim, She also developed psychological issues as a direct result of her physical injuries, and required evaluation and treatment.
