Knee Injury - At Workplace



Pamela M was employed by the City of San Diego as a residence care worker, and incurred an industrial injury to her right knee and lower extremities, while performing the usual and customary duties of her position.

While working closely with a student, Ms. M’s left knee was inadvertently struck by the student’s chair. Subsequently, the student collapsed directly onto the same knee and lower leg, causing further injury. Her injuries resulted in multiple corrective surgical procedures, numerous sessions of physical therapy and weight management programs, as well as qualified her for the future possibility of a complete knee replacement procedure.
During the progression of her claim, Ms. M developed a secondary injury to her left knee and back, both of which could be directly attributed to complications of her original industrial injury. Both conditions required extensive evaluation and treatment.

Ms. Moore settled her claim for $180,000.00 via Compromise & Release on February 17, 2009 with the San Diego Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
